Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton was born on the 19th of January 1946 at Locust Ridge Tenn. She was raised with twelve other kids. Her vivid imagination helped her escape from the pressures of daily life. Even before learning to write or read she wrote her own music. The first time she picked up a guitar was when she was 8 and started performing on a Knoxville Tenn radio station at age eleven. In the same year, she recorded her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. Even though she was still in school, she had already made a name of herself within the local arena. But her dream was to be able to make music on a greater level. After graduating from high school in 1964 she immediately moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were her two first charting albums from Monument Records. The syndicated television show of Porter Wagoner was in need of an additional singer around this point. Parton joined Grand Ole Opry 1969 after contracting to RCA Records. The year 1974 was the first that she opted to walk away from Wagoner's program as the popularity of her own solo records including Joshua Coat, Many Colors, and Jolene exceeded their collective efforts. Parton wrote I Will Always Love You to Wagoner following their split. The song reached the top of the charts at. This was the first time that a song was able to reach No.
