Born into a clan of film stars She was likely to get noticed as a young girl. Her mother Goldie Hawn is an acclaimed film actor, while her father Bill Hudson is a comedian. She was an avid performer at a young age, and would jump at the chance to perform on stage. As a youngster the parents of her provided dance lessons and she trained at the Santa Monica Playhouse. In 1996, she received a role as a guest on the TV drama Party of Five. Even though she was accepted by New York University, Kate Hudson was more attracted to pursuing a career as a showbiz entrepreneur than the pursuit of a degree. After performing in a few minor films and a few short films, she was offered the part that would prove to be her first major role in the field. The role she was chosen for was Penny Lane in the comedy drama film Almost Famous. The film didn't do very well in the box office however, it did receive positive review from critics. It established Kate as an actor in the American film industry.
